As a Florida resident, I am surely happy that we have two nuclear power plants to generate our need of air conditioning. The accepted way of generating power through the use of fossil fuels such as crude oil would make my electricity costs soar. The world has tried to avoid nuclear power to counter warming. In an emergency situation where the globe on which we coexist with others, it would be an approved technology that has been tested and found environmentally safe and effective. This is foundational in designing an attack to correct this emergency. It should be very easy to reduce CFC from fossil fuels that contaminate our environment.

There are a lot of unproved theories that are high risk and would further endanger our planet if utilized. High cost replacement auto fuel as well as valuable food source shortages because everyone attacked a confusing problem without a plan. Understanding of chemical cause and effect is mandatory if progress is to be made in our efforts to alter circumstances. There are problems that have defied the most intelligent among us. There are many misunderstood factors that must be interpreted. If the problem is rooted in fossil fuels, the obvious answer is the predictable nuclear power plant.

The largest problem of the nuclear power program is the threat of nuclear meltdown This was the case when a major disaster occurred in Europe. Many people were marred and disfigured for generations In Chernobyl many lives were affected by radiation poisoning that caused illness and physical deformity and premature death. In the United States, we barely escaped a horrendous disaster at Three Mile Island when a reactor went into meltdown. Thank God there were some capable technicians who saved the day. The threat of warfare or terrorism to these facilities that will promote horrendous destruction, make this technology a high risk in a violent world.

The other major problem is to transport and dispose nuclear waste that threatens; land, water and people. The cost of these risks is astronomical and shows little promise unless we dispose of this material on a far out planet somewhere in space.

Much cheaper and less threatening technology that does not make the problem worse, is the solar power panels that create great savings to the people when applied to heating the water for bathing and heating. We take advantage of our sunshine to empower our systems.

The windmill technology is wonderful if you are not trying to power a
