The best way to make earth friendly crafts is to sort through the stuff you normally throw out and creatively use as much of it as you can. Here are some examples of what you can do:
1. Use magazine pages, cut into long triangles or rectangles and rolled, into beads to section off parts of rooms or to wear.
2.Use newspapers to create papier mache gifts. Flower vases, flower bowls, toy mailboxes, etc.
3.Use plastic tubs to store your craft supplies or cover them with old cloth and macrame a plant holder around them and hang them up with a plant in it. You'll need two tubs, one with holes to let the water go out. Modify the design and you can have a bingo chip holder or purse.
4. Bends spoons, knives, or forks with heat and make an art object or use it to make or replace a broken handle.
5. Papier mache or cover with cloth different boxes and make a doll's house, furniture, and accessories.
6. Paint an old piece of cloth and create roads for toy cars or toy trains.
7. Use a combination of items to create mountains, hills, valleys, etc. in one room and make toy train tracks run all over it or toy cars roads all over. You can papier mache everything or cover things with wall paper or contact paper.
8. Old boxes can be covered and used like building blocks. Cover them with old wallpaper items, old jeans, old cloth, anything, and let the young people build fun objects. If the empty boxes fall, they weigh nothing and the kids aren't likely to get hurt.
I could probably go on and on for days. You're only limited by your imagination. So look at the items you usually throw away as arts and crafts objects, then combine them and create your own work of art, toys, crafts, and so on. You can do it and you'll be amazed at the really neat things you come up with.
