His dreams were scattered here and there
His thoughts an endless maze
He'd stumble around and pick them up
But then he'd fail again
Nothing ever turned out right
And no one ever cared
His life was meaningless and so
He ended it on the stairs
Gun in hand, a noise in the night
He'd lost another fight
His body crumbled, then it fell
He never stood a chance

The woman on the bike ahead,
Was peddling steadily,
Her shopping bags hung on the bars,
They swung so rhythmically.
I walked
My heart beats just a bit quicker,
I press my hands to my chest.
I will my body to remain calm,
In my mind, there's enough
I've run out of saints to pray to
And God just sits there with eyes turned to the wind
