Ron Paul - A viable candidate for American President in November 2008

Wade."(Behuniak & Svenson) His life is an upstanding one as well. Ron Paul is an ob/gyn who has delivered over 4,000 babies. He was drafted into the Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served in the Air Force for several years. He has been married to his wife Carol Paul for 50 years and they have five children (three of which are also doctors) and eighteen grandchildren. He has proved himself to be a longtime upstanding and faithful citizen.

Despite the many good reasons for Ron Paul to be America's next president there are those who do not think he would be a beneficial president. Some people are against Ron Paul and this manifests its self in various ways. On Petition Spot.com there is a petition "Against Ron Paul's Inclusion in Future Republican Presidential Debates". The signers of this petition believe that his campaign is detracting from the other, bigger candidates that actually "have a chance" and they do not want him to be able to take other Republican votes. They believe that he should not be allowed into the Republican debates.
The American people should vote for what they think is right and not just vote for the candidate with "the best chance". A lesser of two evils is still evil. Rudy Giuliani might be able to win as a Republican, but he lines up with Democrats on many issues. Voters shouldn't just vote for him because he is a "Republican" with "a chance". Ron Paul should be allowed to join the debate and allow people to vote for a candidate that they actually agree with.
People may disagree with Ron Paul because he varies from all the other Republican candidates in the fact that he supports bringing the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan home now. A pro-occupation stance is one that all of the Republican candidates hold and Ron Paul has been looked down upon for holding a differing view.
Ron Paul's view of the war in Iraq is consistent with the rest of his policy, which is one of a small, constitutionally directed government. In a front page article of the New York Times he is quoted saying ''Why don't we just open up the Constitution and read it? You're not allowed to go to war without a declaration of war.''(Nagourney and Santora) Because the war is unconstitutional he believes in bringing the troops home. Interestingly enough, of the money contributed by troops to all nineteen of the candidates for the 2008 election, according to the Federal Election Commission's July 07 financial report, 25% of the soldier's money was contributed to
