Ron Paul - A viable candidate for American President in November 2008

Though the actual election for the new president of the United States of America is a year away, the candidates are already lining up. Of course before the nation goes to the ballots in November 2008, the party primaries will have to take place, in which the official candidate for each party will be selected. Right now the race is on between various hopefuls in both the Republican and Democratic parties. In the Democratic race there are some significant candidates, well known names with lots of money behind them like Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama. In the Republican circle, though, there are not such definite favorites. More obscure candidates are rising through the ranks, such as Congressman Dr. Ron Paul, whose campaign has been widely through the internet. But as NPR reported just the other day, he has raised as much money as the popular Republican candidate, John McCain. Ron Paul is running on the Republican ticket and a big part of his campaign is his goal to downsize the government. Ron Paul would make a good president.

Ron Paul would make a good president because he will lower taxes. There are a lot of taxes that are levied on the American people, but Ron Paul's goal is to stop such extreme taxation. On his official campaign website he writes on taxes:
Lower taxes benefit all Americans by increasing economic growth and encouraging wealth creation. I'm in favor of cutting everybody's taxes rich, poor, and otherwise. Whether a tax cut reduces a single mother's payroll taxes by forty dollars a month, or allows a business owner to save thousands in capital gains and hire more employees, the net effect is beneficial. Both either spend, save, or invest the extra dollars, which helps all of us more than if those dollars were sent to the black hole known as the federal Treasury (Ron Paul).
Ron Paul would help this county because he believes in a restricted government. From the founding of this country to the present the government has grown much too large. The government now claims responsibility for things such as schooling and retirement and has taken the responsibilities that were originally invested in the States. This country began as a uniting of the different states in America with their own governments, not as one nation under one big government.
Ron Paul would make a good president because he is a man of upstanding moral character. He said in October 1999, "I am strongly pro-life. I think one of the most disastrous rulings of this century was Roe vs.
