Sometimes, the best part of an outfit is the shoe selection. Especially if that selection is a pair of killer boots, or the cutest stilettos with the super high heel that makes your legs look absolutely endless. There are a couple problems with these shoe selections, though, as any woman who's worn either one for more then ten minutes knows. The most common complaint: pain. High heels had to have been designed by men because even though they look amazing, those things hurt! And another big complaint: if you're wearing a pair of three inch heels (or taller) with stockings, you could roll your ankle and end up looking far less hotter than you'd hoped.
The solution to each problem is surprisingly simple and comes in a tiny spray bottle that can probably be found at your neighborhood drug store. And though there are serious long-term problems that come with wearing high heels including but not limited to knee and joint pain and unsightly calluses, these two nifty little tricks will at least help with the short-term problems so that you can look extra amazing on your night out with the girls, or with that lucky guy that actually gets to see you all gussied up just for him.
You've heard of peppermint before, and you've probably used it many times whether it was in your tea or in your chewing gum. But there's another neat use for peppermint: spritzing the insides of your killer new boots! Pick up a bottle of peppermint oil spray in a travel-size bottle (or look online if you're unsure which retailers offer this product). When you're wearing high heels that make your little piggies cry out in pain, spray the oil mist into the front of your shoe, where your toes go. Then slip them on. The peppermint produces a cooling sensation that will numb your toes to the temporary pain of high heels. So if you want to rock those four-inch high strappy sandals on the dance floor, add a spritz before you strike a pose. Though not a permanent fix by any means, of course, this peppermint oil spray will let you rock those amazing shoes just a little while longer before you cry uncle.
As for the pesky slipping problem, there's a very easy fix. Here's a hint: you use it on your hair to keep it in place, so why not use it on your feet when you're wearing stockings and heels? There's nothing worse than putting on a pair of sheer stockings and slipping on a pair of sexy sandals or stilettos only to find that you have trouble keeping your balance because your feet keep slipping on the slick inside sole of your shoe.
Next time, try this trick on for size. Pull on your stockings and spray an even layer of hairspray on either the inside of your shoe (unless it has rhinestone accents or the like, which might be made cloudy or filmy if you add a spray to it) or the underside of your stocking-clad foot. Carefully slip on your shoe, press your foot firmly into the sole, and strap it up. The hairspray will bind the mesh of your stocking to the inside of your shoe and keep you from making any slippery mistakes.
Following these two simple tips will help you be even more confident when you're wearing your kick-butt shoes; you won't have to worry too much about the pain in your tootsies or slipping off of them. After all, those shoes were made for walking so start walking!
