Hours spent driving around searching for help wanted signs or pouring over the newspaper hoping to see something that catches your eye. Still you haven't had any luck with your job hunt.
There are new sources for jobs available now and finding them takes a little time. The traditional methods of job hunting are not as effective as they once were. Now there are some things that can be done to make your job search more efficient and easier on you.
*On-line job searches
*Inquiring while shopping
*Ask your family and friends
*Go through the phone book
1-On-line job searches
Newspapers are available online now, there are also sights dedicated to searching for jobs. There are also companies that post openings on their own website. Go online and perform a job search. There are places that will allow you to post your application directly through their website.
Make sure to have all of your information available to speed up the time it takes you to fill out the applications online. Make sure to check and see if there is an email notification option for new positions or if you are automatically applying for every job that you may qualify for.
Inquiring While Shopping
When you are out shopping you may find a job. Some stores have computers located by the customer service desks to put applications in on. You can stop for a moment and put one in. Then you're back to your shopping just that simple. No extra travel expense to fill out the application.
If you happen to be in a small family owned store and see a help wanted sign in the window talk to the owner. Who knows if you sell yourself right you could leave with a time to start your new job. Make sure you are dressed rather neatly for your outings just in case; you want to make a good impression after all.
Ask Family and Friends
Family and friends are a great source of job leads, they can keep an ear out for you at their workplace. Sometimes there will be openings that aren't put in the paper. Ask them to listen out for jobs that match your skills, even a rumor can get your application in before anyone else's.
Phonebook Listing
Go through the yellow pages of your phone book and call some of the companies listed. Don't ask specifics just ask what hours they talk applications. If nothing else this will prevent you from wasting time going to companies that aren't accepting applications. Find out when they take them and what they expect with an application. Make sure to get directions to the company's location if you need them.
These are just a few things to make your job search more efficient and effective.
