Science Fiction (Time-travel, futuristic): Until Forever by Johanna Lindsey. So far Lindsey has failed to make the list and that is because while she is a very prolific author she is not my ultimate favourite and I often find that while her books start off very good, they tend to wilt a little in the middle and die completely at the end. Until Forever follows the story of a history professor, Roseleen White and a cursed Viking Warrior, brother of Thor, Thorn Blooddrinker, who cross paths when Roseleen unwittingly touches the sword that is his cursed home. When Roseleen gives Thorn possession of his sword, something that no one in his cursed existence has ever done, they travel through time, visiting William the Conqueror in the time before the invasion of England. Against the backdrop of battles and turmoil their relationship changes into something more intimate. Though I am not a huge fan of anything written by Lindsey after around 1990, Until Forever is able to keep the attention of the reader for as long as it takes to finish the book.
Though I am sure that there are hundreds of other novels out there that fit into these characters fare better than the ones I have selected, these are a few of my favourites. Being in England means a limit on the number of authors you can easily pick up off the shelves, and while Amazon is a fantastic resource, sometimes investing in a new author can be an ultimately disappointing experience, libraries are all well and good, but a library is only as good as the stock on the shelves.
