that Charles lied to her, things start to tumble, but not before Jason's heart softens towards his young wife.
3) Contemporary Romance: Sweet Liar by Jude Deveraux. Deveraux is not a very strong author, in fact many of her books are dreadfully written and so poorly researched that I want to cry (my teenage brain wasn't so hypercritical however). Sweet Liar is one of her strongest books EVER. Sweet Liar follows the story of Mike Taggert and Samantha Elliott. Mike is a Taggert identical twin who is a mathematical genius and has a strange fascination with white clothing. Samantha is a very staid, controlled and independent woman who was used and abused by her cheating ex-husband and ordered to live with Mike in his New York townhouse for a year in order to obtain her late father's riches. While Mike forces the introverted and depressed Samantha out of her shell they discover a secret about her past that caused the death of her mother and leads to a confrontation with an old style criminal, as well as meeting her only surviving relative, a woman who ran when she knew that her past was about to catch up with her.
4) Urban Fantasy Romance: I have a few favourites in this category, and with such a growing collection of authors to choose from, it's getting increasingly difficult to select just one book. For that reason I am just going to list a few of my favourites.
Sherrilyn Kenyon: Fantasy Lover; Night Play; Seize the Night; Dream Hunter
Katie MacAllister: Sex and the Single Vampire; Sex, Lies and Vampires; You Slay Me
Lyndsay Sands: Single White Vampire; Tall Dark and Hungry
Shana Abe: The Smoke Thief; The Dream Thief
Karen Marie Moning: The Highlander's Touch; The Immortal Highlander; Spell of the Highlander
5) Thriller Romance: Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood. I have to be completely honest here and say that I am not a huge fan of Thriller romances. While I do own a few of them I have only read them once so could not offer a hearty critique. My recommendation would be, read one and see what you think. Don't expect them to be anywhere near as beautiful as the more traditional romances, or as erotic as the more contemporary/urban fantasy novels have proved to be. I have always felt disappointed that novelists such as McNaught and Garwood have felt the need to move from the traditional historical novel (which they write so well) on to the contemporary thriller. Garwood remains one of my favourite authors, and I do own her thriller/crime series so I would recommend those.
