The concept of a single world government is sometimes glamorized in science fiction and other stories. The reality is just that, stories and science fiction. A single world government will result in the greatest sufferings humanity has yet to see.

The saying absolute power corrupts absolutely is intrinsic to human behavior. Put a group of people together and collectively it has the same affect on the collective body. As long as people are people, there is the nature for greed and control existing within us. As long as that exists, there exists the possibility of others being placed at disadvantages.

A multi-government world puts things into perspective and creates a check and balance against the various systems. In an age where the battlefield was level and the common person could fight their government by making similar weaponry in the barn, the citizens could unite and fight off oppressive governments.

Today we live in an era where the government has access to armored vehicles, high explosives, rocketry, and weaponry far too advanced for citizens to compete against if there is ever a need to over throw a corrupt government. This also answer the question why countries meddle in the affairs of other sovereign nations, because who else can a majority of people turn to when their own government will not listen but rather poison or kill their own citizens to retain power?

One might argue in the instance of a single world government gone corrupt, the corrupt government can be over thrown by economic or peaceful methods. The citizens of the world could strike by not going to work and shutting down the economy. This is great in theory, assuming the majority of people are willing to take it as far as it needs to go and the government does not step in at gunpoint other measures.

Governments who govern least at the most effective, but note the word government is plural. A single government absent of being accountable to other nations may start out governing least, but as time progresses history has shown that even the best governments continue to create more and more laws and gain more and more control as personal liberties diminish for the sake of the whole.

A single world government would solve a lot of issues, and end the wars between nations. The only problem then will be the wars of the people against the government and vice-versa, only the playing field will and nature of government will ensure it always has the best toys to take to battle. Utopia through one world government can never exist absent from a completely perfect leader, which excludes all humans.
