Ordinarily, the term "natural", refers to something that occurs in Nature. Since homosexuality occurs in Nature - whether people like it or not - it is "natural".
Is it in keeping with any evolutionary aim to assure that a species reproduces? No. We, as a species, however, have evolved beyond the basics of biology. For example, an individual can be a "perfect specimen" (in intellect, emotional soundness, general fitness, and even appearance). Still, that "perfect specimen" may, for some reason, not be able to reproduce. That could be through choice, or it could be through something like naturally-occurring scar tissue in the reproductive parts. The point is, the measure of "natural" cannot be determined by general evolutionary aims, alone.
There is a parallel between human development and the evolutionary progress of the species. In both, the beginnings involved simple clusters of cells that were subject to dramatic change, damage, and/or growth. As humans have developed, though, those phases of decreasingly dramatic change (and vulnerability to it) have passed, and the increasingly matured human, or human species, has reached completion (or least near completion). The point is, we, as individual humans, and as a species, are have developed well beyond many of the original evolutionary or biological aims.
We have our intellects, our emotions, our souls, and our genetic makeups. Those things are as natural as reproduction is, and Nature has designed us in a way that makes those things affect us, as a whole person. At the same time, who we are as a whole person can also affect things like our emotions, souls, and even intellects.
We are not single-celled animals in labs, where we are measured by the ability and propensity to reproduce. We, humans, are the complicated but advanced result of thousands of years of development as a species, which has allowed us to expand our purpose here on Earth from simply eating and reproducing to functioning in societies, and - yes - to loving one another and sometimes wanting to share our lives with one, special, person.
We are not just made up of our sexuality or reproductive systems. We are made up of the intellects, emotions, souls, and hearts that have been built by whatever sexuality we have, and that, in turn, contribute to the makeup of that sexuality.
While those of us who enjoy being in the majority that happens to be heterosexual, Nature has obviously created that minority of humans who are homosexual. Nature, though, has designed people to come in any number of "varieties". She has made some people brilliant, some people extremely strong, some people with vision problems, and some people who lack pigmentation in their hair, skin, and eyes.
There may be people who are not comfortable with homosexuality, and there may be those who believe people should not act on the sexual orientation with which they've ended up. There are some who believe homosexuality is in one's genes and others who believe it is the result of nurturing. Still others believe the cause could be a combination of things. Whatever the cause is, however, the result has occurred as a natural consequence of that cause. This is why, when it comes to discussing homosexuality, the idea that it is not natural is not an idea that should be brought into the discussion.
