Using a home tutor program for math can give your child that extra edge to be more competitive in higher mathematic classes. The use of software and other interactive programs can give your child a first hand look at how a problem will be done and the steps it takes to do it. Interactive software for math has been in existence for over a decade and has taught thousands of kids how to do their math when they couldn't get the information that they were taught in class.
One of the lower grade math software packages I have used that were successful was the Math Rabbit math series. Here the child goes through the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division by interacting in a cartoon environment. The action is stimulation and the child will learn to love to do work as they search the Rabbit's kingdom for the elusive math wizard. The average student takes about six weeks to go through the software and at the end of that time they are light years ahead of other students.
Interactive software is also important for middle school grades. Though they video game format might be too immature for them, the interaction with computer gives them that extra edge in the real classroom. Books and blackboards are two dimensional and some people cannot see past the page. When a middle school student is learning pre-algebra and geometry, they need to see the shapes and the variables beyond the text book. Especially if the student is a visual learner, software plays a very important part of their educational experience.
High School and college are no different when it comes to higher mathematics. As students are crammed with statistics, calculus, and analytical geometry, the need for a third dimensional tutor is of the upmost importance. There is not enough time in a classroom to get the full concept of these complex math problems. A home tutor math software package will give that extra explanation that you did not receive from your teacher or text book. Most school math textbooks come with software packages that are aligned with the book. With this helpful supplement the student can have better grades and more importantly, the true understanding of the concept.
Math interactive software can be found at online educational stores, but you can find the more popular, mainstreamed software at a big lot store or an electronics store.
