Coping with pain: It doesn't take guts - it takes sheer determination

Coping with emotional pain and grief can be all be like a fire consuming you in the hot flames. Some-days it may seem that you cannot even get out of bed in the morning to face another day. Everyday seems clouded by the pain that you feel inside. It can seem as if you are trapped in the middle of this inner pain and that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Everything seems bleak and there is no strength to go on. What do you do at a time like this in life? How do you push through the pain and come out a survivor on the other side?

It is through determination to overcome the circumstance that is causing the pain that will see you through to the other side of the pain. Even if the pain is still screaming loudly from within you continue to put one foot in front of the other. One step at a time and little by little you will walk through it and begin to live again. It is similar to climbing a huge mountain when you do not have the energy to do it. Somehow you pull it out of yourself from within and one step at a time with perseverance and allot of persistence you climb that mountain.

Life is a journey that we all must walk and in that journey there is often pain from a wide variety of causes. We lose a loved one and cannot see how we will live life without that person we care about so much. Often in every moment the loss of our loved one is a constant whisper that reminds us of their absence in our lives. Grief is a natural from of accepting whatever it is that we have lost or whatever tragedy or crisis is causing our pain. The most important thing is to never give up in the face of adversity of any kind.

Feeling the pain is important and accepting that we are in a tough time right now is good too but we can never let ourselves be defeated. Many people have coped through determination to rise above their pain and it took a tremendous amount of determination to do just that. Later on in their lives though it had paid off when their pain was turned into their gain. For some they became a writer,an artist, helped others who were suffering in the same way they did.

The list is endless just how our lives can be restored to wholeness in the face of our pain even when we think there is no way we can cope with it. Just being determined to not let it consume us, walking with the pain anyway and doing what we need to do anyway. That is determination to overcome being stuck in the pain and to cope with it in a more positive way. I think it takes courage to be determined to press through the pain. In order to walk in victory instead of defeat we need to be courageous. We need to feel the fear and do it afraid. Feel the pain and do it in pain.
