The importance of the right cosmetics on the BIG day has been, in my mind, overshadowing the even greater importance of a good preparation the week before.

It cannot be tressed enough how beauty must come from within. If you are feeling healthy on the inside, this will no doubt show on the outside, so seven days of good sleep, plenty of water and tonnes of fruit will pay off dividends for the wedding day. With a clear, fresh looking face from healthy eating from the week before, you will find the day's make up easier to apply and less to use.

The main idea behind the water and fruit diet is so that you don't have to 'cake' on the foundation on the morning of your wedding. There is nothing worse than seeing a bride who looks wonderful from the neck down but a horror movie extra from the neck up!

Make up for your wedding day must follow the following simple rules;

1; keep a light foundation to the minimum to avoid any 'creasing' around the eyes and the neck. Remember; you are having to wear this make for the whole day, so to keep it's freshness, don't apply to heavily!

2; Keep the application of eye shadow light and the lisptick close to your own colour. The key is to look natural. I know, most of us cringe at the that word, but unfortunately for one day of your life, everyone is going to expect you looking your natural best!

3; Is the most important peice of advice I have ever heard and that is, 'Don't try anything on your day that you haven't tried before.' This is a real must. If you start playing around with different colours and styles of make up, the result is by Murphy's Law going to be a disaster! So keep to something you are condifent in applying, especially when you are doing your make up yourself.

Ending on this last note, I do recommend you do your make up yourself, or if not, get a close friend to help. It is far more fun with people around you who your know and a lot less expensive!
