Autodesk Software Review

Autodesk is not user friendly to novice users. As this is a highly complex design program that contains very specialized information. This program meets the needs for my business due to the nature of work that my company does. Autodesk makes designing the foam parts that my company requires easier than competing programs. The features that my company makes the most use of are the drafting components. The most formidable part of the program is autolisping due to the exactness of the commands that must be programmed. The easiest function of the program is the drawing commands. This program has superior drawing capabilities that are easily learned, and utilized. The customer support from Autodesk is very reliable and knowledgeable about their program. Customer service on this program is impeccable. On the other side the user documentation that is included with the program is not helpful and could be very confusing to beginning users. Before purchasing this solution one should understand what the capabilities and limitations of the program are. There are specific building industries that this program is used for. This program is not for novice designers that are simply dabbling in programs like paint and draw. There are very specific courses that must be completed to really understand the commands that this program requires. Depending on the person teaching and on the abilities of the person learning, a reasonably intelligent person could grasp the basic concepts of this program in a few weeks. More in-depth training would be required for a longer period of time.

My company will upgrade to the next level of Autodesk when it comes out. Because we feel that this is a superior product for the price that we pay. There are not many programs on the market that do what Autodesk will do. My company and I would extend a 9 on a one to ten scale for Autodesk. I will continue to use this program for all of my design needs.

Job Description: I design foam moldings for buildings. I have used Autodesk for about ten years, and learned the program in high school. I also continued my education in AutoCAD and Autodesk in college. I have been employed in my current position for five years where I use this software everyday.
