Okay,
When was the last time you were excited to see ads? Let me guess - never. Same for everyone else. One of the first things you need to do is to make sure that the adsense theme matches your site's theme. For an example, please look at my site about SEO - http://www.yoursuccessgateway. com/seo.
This way people don't feel like they're clicking on ads, but they're rather following through on valuable offers and information.
Second thing you need to do is to place Adsense on the top, and on the left hand side along with the navigation. The human eye is trained to look at the left side of a page before any other! So place the ads on the top and the left.
Third, you must include a google search bar to maximize your earnings. AS simple as that! It'll really boost your adsense earnings.
Another thing you want to do is to keep your page length low. You don't want to put one massive page that's 5 pages long. Instead break it into 3-5 different pages. That way you maximize the number of ads on the same content and also increase your Google ranking.
And most importantly, design your page for the user, not for google. If any of Adsense optimizations stand in the way of a good user experience, you want to get rid of Adsense things there. This is extremely important, as that's one of the things google looks at.
If possible, have more content than graphics and images, else you'll get less targeted ads and less clicks.
Remember, in the end, it's the user who clicks on the ad, not Google. If the user doesn't like your page, there's nothing that Google can do about it.
