Working toward a stream of passive income is rather a great goal. Once you have a passive income you can sit back and let the system do the work, paying you each month. Most of the ways to gain a passive income are really only semi-passive incomes, but that doesn't make the reward any less of a gain. These semi-passive methods of gaining income require a lot of work to set up and a small amount of work to maintain. There are several different options for people to work with. Writing online is a great way to set up a semi-passive income along with a few other options.
Google Adsense
Google Adsense is a slow beast to gain a passive income from, but once you start to build one up it can be a great source of income. Google Adsense can be placed on any and all websites that you have and can pay you through clicks and occasionally through impressions. The more traffic you have the more money you can make. Which is why this is a hard one to build up. You have to work hard to gain traffic to your site.
Google Adsense can also be added to pages that you write for other websites. This makes it easier for your to find an audience for your material and make money for it without having to work as hard drawing people in. Most of these websites work on an impression sharing method. They will give you a percentage of the impressions and take the rest. This lets them make money, and you make money while both parties are participating. Some feel that this isn't a good idea since you would have 100% of the page impressions on your own website. However, these sites often come with a fair amount of traffic and have great ways of promoting your work. Hubpages and howtodothings.com are two such websites.
Affiliate Programs
Affiliate programs can also be added to your website and even to your Hubpages (ebay and Amazon). Often times you can gain a percent of sales made through your website and even at times money from clicks or impressions using affiliate programs.
Getting Paid for Page Impressions on Websites You Write For
There are a fair number of websites that will pay for the page impressions that you receive on each of the articles you write for them. They do this a little differently, but they can be a great way to have a semi-passive income. This is also one of the simplest semi-passive incomes you can start since you don't have to build a website or even a page, just write the article and let the website do the rest (though advertising your writing can help increase your earnings).
