If you are carrying around consumer debt, then it is hard to become rich.. Consumer debt, especially for things that you can't even look at, such as entertainment, meals out, the latest movie, etc.. can add up big time.

You need to get rid of that anchor, before you can feel rich financially.

Most people can achieve the feeling of being rich in all other parts of their lives, except their finances, it can be the hardest. You should consider yourself rich, if you are happy, healthy, and have a great career... those are first.. then the finances should follow, and if not, then they just need some tweaking!

If you are a happy person, then hopefully you do not rely on "things" to make you happy, and therefore do not have much consumer debt, or have to purchase the latest and greatest to make you happy.

If you are healthy, then your life is most likely in balance, and you just may need some tweaking to the finances for whatever life can throw at us.

If you have a great career, then hopefully, you are paid well for it, and can pay your bills, and not spend more than you earn.

Those need to be addressed first, if you are not happy, then you may have a case of the "I have to have that to be happy or to keep up with the Jones" and use too much credit... If you are not happy, then your health may crumble under the stress.. and if you do not have the career you want, then you will not be making the salary, and will rely on credit to make yourself feel better by buying the latest and greatest.. its a vicious circle!

So, in order to be rich, you first have to be happy with what you have, then keep healthy, and find your career path, and the rest should follow.
