How to make a cell phone cozy

These days everyone has a cell phone and they take it everywhere with them! Unfortunately, having your phone with you all the time can result in it becoming beat up in no time. Also, a cell phone cozy is an inexpensive way to jazz up your phone instead of buying those costly covers and skins. If you are looking for a great way to protect your phone or to add some personal flair consider making your own cell phone cozy today!

Basically a phone cozy is just a pouch for your phone; you can make your cozy from scrap fabric, felt, leather faux fur or yarn. Simply choose what you would like to make your cozy from, gather your materials and follow these simple instructions. You will have a stylish and personalized cozy in no time!

Make a sewn cozy-
I will first outline how to make a cozy with a few simple stitches and your chosen medium. Like I said before you can choose from just about any fabric/ material for your cozy. One of the best things to keep in mind is the thickness of your material. If you are like me, you may be prone to drop your phone often. A thicker fabric would be preferable in this situation because it will cushion your phone and keep it from becoming damaged. Another thing to consider when choosing your fabric is your own personal flair. Be sure to choose a fabric that uniquely expresses your style. If you are planning to use embellishments, charms and other decorations you may choose to use a simple fabric pattern but if you don't want to decorate too much you can go with a busier fabric. Just choose what you like most and have fun! Next you will need to determine what size you want your cozy to be. Taking simple measurements of your phone will determine how much fabric you will need.

Find the width of fabric needed:
1. Measure the width the entire distance all the way around the phone you are making the cozy for and add about inch, this will be your seam allowance.

Find the length of fabric needed:
2. Measure going from the top of phone down the front, to the bottom and then back up the back of the phone to the top again. Add about inch for your seam allowance.
Now simply mark your fabric according to the measurements you just took and cut it.

Next take the fabric and fold it in half lengthwise with the right sides of fabric facing each other, crease the fabric and unfold. Take each bottom and top edge (the edges that are parallel to the crease you just made) and fold each over inch, press and sew. This finishes the top edges of your cell phone cozy.
