Snowboarding, as well as other outdoor winter activities are a great way to stay fit and live a healthy active lifestyle all year round. Why not take snowboarding to the next level and enter a competition? No idea where to start? Well many ski resorts have been keeping in mind that many individuals are trying to stay fit and active even during the winter months, and they offer competitions through their special "ski and snowboard" week.
The best way to achieve techniques well enough for a competition is to start gradually and work your way up the talent ladder. First of all you should seek out professional lessons. This way you will know what to do and how to handle yourself upon your board. The lesson will teach you the basics and then you will take your own individual twist on things as you proceed. Once learning how to snowboard well, you should attend a competition without actually participating so you can learn what you need to work on and just how the main competition runs.
Competitions are often structured with different levels of expertise to allow you to register in whichever spot your abilities will be at. Generally there will be beginners, intermediate and professional levels. There will also be different age groups, don't pretend to be older than you actually are. You will want to compete with others your own age and own ability level to ensure the fairest competition.
Next, the main rally...your tricks. It is alright to take on your own individual flair to tricks, but try to make them similar to tricks others are doing so the judges have something to compare them to. Have fun with your tricks but don't be too outlandish in style.
Your outfit should fit the criteria of the competition. Many places will require you have a specific type of helmet to ensure that all the applicants are well protected against any falls equally. If you are not sure of the competitions rules, you should contact them before the competition date to ensure you are properly suited.
The application process is mandatory. You will be required the routine items such as name, phone number, age and an emergency contact. Also on this form you will need to write a list of your tricks you plan on performing. Be mentally prepared for both filling out this application as well as your drive for success while boarding. Competitions are generally based on a first come first serve basis. If you do not register early enough there probably will not be space for you.
