"We have to go back!" Yes we do Jack, and yes we will. The doctor's achingly painful plea still rings out as the dramatic close to Season 3 of the hit ABC show left all Lost fans struggling to decipher what has happened to their favorite island castaways. Will they leave the island? Who will survive? Who was in that damn coffin? Well, the wait to find out is almost over as the show is scheduled to return on Thursday Jan 31st. And until that day comes, at least we have the new preview for Season 4 that is guaranteed to blow your mind.
"Are we really going home?" The question lingers with an air of uncertainty as the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 wonder about their future. Hope on this island tends to quickly turn to despair and something tells me this rescue is not what it seems. With the arrival of the "rescuers", the survivors are presented with a new threat to their existence. Could they actually join sides with the Others to fight the Other Others? Sure that sounds confusing and probably is, but this is Lost we are talking about remember.
"Every single living person on this island will be killed." The enigmatic Benjamin Linus (THE bad guy up to this point) proclaims to Jack and the rest of the crew that they have just awakened the real enemy (basically a big fat I told you so). He has always claimed that they are NOT the bad guys and it has been really hard to believe him up to this point. But maybe these guys on the freighter are not there to save the Losties. If so, what do they want on the island?
The lines have definitely been drawn; some will stay and some will go. Sawyer appears to have chosen to stay and fight ("Same thing I've always done Kate; I'm surviving") preaching his mantra of Every Man for Himself. Not even the longing stare from hottie girlfriend Kate can convince him otherwise. Note to self: he is dumb. Ever since Sawyer killed the conman from his past (also happened to be Locke's dad) in season 3 he has not been the same. We are talking Inner-Struggle galore.
And of course we have to ask the age old question: what's the deal with Walt? That kid is everywhere! He made a surprising reappearance in the season 3 finale. How did he get back on the island? Will his dad Michael be back as well? The island clearly possesses some supernatural power that is not yet understood (much like the comedy of Dane Cook, damn that guy bugs me). But that is neither here nor there. The mystique of the island should continue to dominate the morning cooler talk as season 4 rolls on later this month. I, for one, will be right there watching as this incredible show continues to deliver time and again.
