It is very easy to navigate through hotjobs.com. From the home page, you can search postings by job category, keyword, city and state, or zip code. If you choose to search using the city and state or zip code you also have the option of including surrounding cities. My search results have stayed with a ten to fifteen mile radius of my specified city, which is unlike many other websites that do not narrow the field for you.
The job results page lists the job postings available and also breaks everything down into subtitles for a narrower search. The subtitles for jobs that are posted are broken down into categories such as what city, job category, experience required, the company, whether the job is directly through a company or through a staffing firm, and when the job posting was last updated.
A great amount of the jobs listed on hotjobs.com are through staffing services, which take a portion of your income for generally the first 90 days of employment. The company then has the choice of keeping you as an employee or not. There are many downfalls to a staffing agency also. If you make the slightest mistake, you can be pulled out of the job and replaced by another individual because they have to keep a good standing with the companies they provide service to.
On the job search results page, when you click on a job title you generally go to a page which gives you a brief description of the company and a description of the job you are applying for. From this page you can apply for the position. It will navigate you to the company website generally. You also have a link from the search results page that you can click to view the company, which gives you more information about the company and lists all of the jobs posted with this company.
With hotjobs.com you can also post your resume for employers to view. You have to enter the top job categories that you are looking for a position in, then the company would search the resumes based on what they are looking for. I have had my resume posted and it has been viewed a total of one time. There are such an abundant amount of people all over the world that are looking for employment that unless you have extremely wonderful experience and credentials, most companies won't even glance at the resumes because of the massive amounts available.
Career tools are also available on hotjobs.com. There are tips on getting started with resumes, interviews, networking, and salary negotiations. I especially like the salary negotiations part of the website. You can enter your zip code and pick from a list of job fields, you then get a list of jobs that you can choose from that better refers to what you are looking for. You can get basic information regarding the salary in your area for free.
There are great numbers of postings for jobs available to work at home. When you click to get more information you will find that it is a company trying to sell you something for a dollar amount to get you started on training to work from home. I don't know the legitimacy of these companies, but I have always been under the assumption that if you have to pay for more information, then you would basically be paying the salary of the person offering the assistance, whom is working from their home. These people get rich targeting people, such as stay at home moms, that would like to work from homes.
All in all, I do like hotjobs.com and will continue to use it when I am pursuing another job. I recommend anyone that is looking for a job to give it a try. It may just lead you to a wonderful job that you would have never known about otherwise.
