Poetry: Ending a relationship

If time were to cast a shadow over all that we have shared,
When life becomes troubled and you're feeling low,
Just remember, in this life you were loved by me.

If life should lead us down separate paths,
As there are roads we must all walk alone,
Just remember, in this life you were loved by me.

When tomorrow comes and you find yourself alone,
Remember how we laughed and all that we were shown;
Through one another new worlds were discovered.
In your kiss there was purity, in your touch sincerity,
Such things as I had never known.
For all of this and more, in this life you were loved by me.

A love so rare so pure my friend,
This thing we've had, this thing we share;
In my heart and in my soul it will never end,
Because in this life you were loved by me.

If the day shall come when we go our separate ways,
Remember those wonderful sleepless nights and those playful happy days.
I wish you happiness in all that you do,
Because in this life, I was loved by you.
