2008 Best Sport Utility Vehicles

According to studies and research done by J.D. Power and Associates, Sport-utility vehicles (SUV) continues to rise in popularity in the industry. In 2005, more than 26 percent of the market belonged to SUV owners.

Today in 2008 the market for the more fuel-efficient crossover-utility vehicles (CUV) shows an increasing portion in total SUV sales.

Jeep's 2008 Wrangler Rubicon won several awards including:
* Popular Mechanics AUTOMOTIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR OFF ROAD ABILITY
* Detroit News MOST AWESOME VEHICLE award. This award was chosen by 100 people selected by the Detroit News to review the new line up of 2008 SUVs.

Mazda CX-9 was awarded Motor Trend's 2008 Sport Utility of the Year Award

Mazda CX-7 won the BEST SUV award by the 2008 Automotive Researchers' and Journalists' Conference of Japan (RJC) a nonprofit organization established in 1990

The Nissan Xterra SUV won the 5-star rating for side-impact crash safety by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
