Now that you can buy liquid glycerin soap from craft suppliers, a whole new avenue of home-crafted beauty essentials is opened up to you!
The basic recipe is:
1 cup liquid glycerin soap
1 tablespoon glycerin
15 drops fragrance oil
All you do is mix the ingredients together, pour into a jar and use in your bath! Fabulous!
You can alter the mixture to suit your own preference by adding more or less fragrance, and adding a colorant. Choose a color that is sold for cosmetics or soap-making, or you might come out of the bath a different color to when you went in! You will only need one or two drops - go easy with it.
Fragrances are a matter of personal taste. Try baby powder fragrance oil for Baby's bath - you'll know nothing has gone into the mixture apart from what you added. Add rose fragrance for a traditional aroma.
You can also add bits and pieces to the bottle for visual effect. Try adding some plastic flowers for a funky look. Add a real sprig of lavender or rosemary if these are the fragrances you are using. Add a few faux pearls to a pink or pale blue mix. Add tiny pebbles to an ocean fragrance - the list is endless!
Have fun making bubble bath for yourself and your friends. If you are making it for a gift, you can spend time making the bottle look really pretty. Add ribbon and/or lace tied around the top. Print out a label from the computer, and age it with tea for a vintage look.
Line them up on your windowsill, pour some into the bath, and relax!
For a layered look, you can add 1/4-1/2 cup sweet almond oil to the mixture. This will separate out as the bottle stands.
