Garden designs from around the world

Many years ago I had a vision of a garden that I wanted to re-create. The one in Genesis.

I chose as the site for my New Eden a lovely ranch style house situated on a finger in Clearwater Beach, Florida. The back yard was everything you would need for a new
Eden. The most prominent sight was a Florida oak on the right side of the back yard. On the left was a tall cascading palm, one of those Florida palms with leaves and the look of dates about to hatch. The yard was drawn in two by a large to the dock cement walkway.

Entrance to the dock meant you had to unlatch the aluminum door and step out onto a wooden planked dock with a sink and fish gutting station on the right and several layers of docks depending on how close to the Gulf you wanted to be.

My garden was graced by Jasmine, flowering shrubs that hugged the back of the house and circled to a secret grapefruit tree on left of the backyard, hidden by a huge Oleander flowering tree bush. To complete my garden, I added a California lemon tree directly behind the Florida Oak and a Florida lemon tree behind that.

Surely my garden would not compare to and Australian garden or would it? Most of us in Florida take for granted grand and exquisite natural gardens.

I completed my garden by marrying my Adam. However, as true to my fantasy garden, the moment the new Adam and Eve had a baby, they were forced out of their garden and now live in Ohio.

Be careful what garden you wish for.
