geeks...and they're proud of it. The boss's wife talks game shop with them and they are impressed.
I've played most classes in WoW except for the warlock, but by far my favorite is the hunter (hybrid speced) and rogue...usually speced as combat. I pick these classes because I solo a lot and find I can do that with these classes. By far most of my "toons" are Alliance, but recently I have created a Blood Elf combat rogue who is swiftly approaching level 50. Many of my Alliance alts are maxed out at the moment at level 70 and waiting for the next expansion.
So why do I, an older woman play this seemingly frivolous type games? There is more there than you would see. And the age barrier is not really as much of an issue as you would think. Recently AARP had an article about the large number of people 45 and over that play these games. Yes, I still find there are some people that think I am a "dude" in a girl's suit, but that is less and less. Nowadays, they seem more shocked to find out I'm old enough to be their mom. Usually they are quite accepting of both facts. It's how you play the game that counts.
I play because it keeps my mind busy and sharp. It's brain exercise. Yes, there is a lot to remember and keep up with. But, also as chronic illness has taken over my body, I find that my characters can slip the bonds and do things that I would dream of doing in RL (real life in gamespeak). Who wouldn't want to fly on a majestic gryphon or save the village from some evil monster or simply run?
I can be the strong independent woman I strive and dream to be in real life.
