How to fold a burrito

A unique skill is to perfectly fold a burrito without the ends popping open or the folds flapping out. Folding a burrito does have a small trick and those with that knowledge have the knack of making a splendid burrito.

To fold burritos follow these simple tips:

1. Make sure you have plenty of room to work

Make sure you have enough room to work and nothing is in the tortillas way. Homemade warm tortillas are the easiest to work with. But if you have store bought tortillas, simply warm each tortilla for approximately 30 seconds (either in the microwave or on the stove top). Then place one tortilla on a flat surface.

2. Always place your filling in the center

Place your filling in the center of the tortilla about two inches wide. Make sure not to put too much and don't fill the tortilla to both ends - you need enough space on one end to fold it inward. So place a straight line of food from the top of the center of the tortilla down to about 3/4 of the way.

3. Work the botoom fold first

Now bring up the bottom fold of the tortilla - the place where you left the last 1/3 of the tortilla without food. Bring just that 1/3 of the tortilla straight up.

4. Next work on the side flap

Next bring one flap from the side of the burrito over covering the food and the bottom flap you brought up earlier.

5. The *trick*

This next step is crucial and the *trick.* The flap that is still open needs just the bottom flipped up about two inches making a small diagonal fold up the edge while creating a triangle like shape.

6. Last fold

Now fold the rest of that large flap over creating a perfectly folded burrito. The bottom will not pop out and the flap will stay down.

There you go. You have just created the perfect fold and a burrito that will not allow food to spill out the bottom every time you take a bite. Enjoy.
