to help bind the ingredients. But don't add starch if the flower seed idea is used, this can harm the seeds.
- Place frame into pulp, frame side up, laying it on the bottom evenly. The frame needs to be up to determine the edges of the paper, and catch the pulp. The side where the screen covers everything will just make the pulp slide off.
- Then slowly pull the frame up, keeping it level and creating a wet sheet of paper. Hold the frame over the basin and let some excess water drip out. Take a piece of felt and lay it across the paper. Use a sponge to slowly squeeze and soak up the excess water. Keep repeating this process until the paper seems "wrung out".
- Carefully, and very slowly, lift corner of felt, it should pull the paper up with it. Place paper flat down on saran wrap or wax paper, and go over felt again with a dry sponge, pressing the paper into the flat, non-stick surface.
- Gently pull the felt from the remaining paper. It there is tearing, let the felt and paper dry out a little more. Once paper is free, let dry and enjoy!
PINECONE BIRD/SQUIRREL FEEDER
- A pinecone animal feeder is a wonderful stand-by craft that is easy and very earth-friendly. Just go pick up any large sized pinecone you see on the ground. Tie it with a piece of strong string or yarn, leaving enough extra to tie the feeder to a tree limb.
- Take some creamy peanut butter and either spread a thin layer covering the pine cone, or if the peanut butter is very soft, dip the cone in.
- Pour some birdseed into a bowl or pan, and roll peanut butter coated cone in the seed, covering it completely. A perfect feeder for birds or squirrels. Tie to a tree branch, post, or fence and watch the wildlife enjoy their treat.
FLOWER/LEAF PRESERVATION
- For preserving a really beautiful flower or leaf, all you need is some water, string, and some good, old, non-toxic, "Elmer's Glue". Find an old, small pot that will never be used for cooking again. Bring 1 and 1/4 cups of water to a full boil, reduce heat to the lowest setting, and slowly stir in 2 cups of "Elmer's Glue".
- As soon as all the glue is poured in, remove pot from heat and continue to stir mixture until glue is totally dissolved into the water. Let cool to warmed, not hot. Take a flower or leaf and tie a pretty string securely to the stem.
- Carefully and slowly, dip the item into the glue mixture, making sure to coat it fully, including the stem but not the string. Just as slowly, pull the item from the mixture and let it hang over the bowl
