In most cases childhood obesity is the fault of the parent. There are cases where there is a medical problem like thyroid or something but probably 98% of all the obese kids are that way because of what they are fed and what they are allowed to eat at home. With the majority of families now having both parents working to make ends meet, good healthy meals unfortunately in a lot of houses are a thing of the past. It is so much easier to grab a big bucket of chicken from KFC with Mac and Cheese , mashed potatoes and gravy and biscuits as sides. A lot of fat and calories that are not necessarily less expensive but just easier. Next day it is a Big Mac, Biggie Fries and a large chocolate milkshake. Maybe the next day it is a pizza supreme from Pizza hut. All good and everybody likes once in a while but not every night.
We have a lot of salmon and tilapia and combine that with a big fresh greens salad with tomato and onion and sometimes some avocado and some shredded cheese. It is not any more if as expensive and a whole lot better for you. It does take a few minutes to prepare though and that is where the problem comes in. It is easire to buy fast food. No wonder there are so many little butter balls running around and Type II diabetes is occurring in epidemic proportions. People are too fat and don't get enough exercise while they are playing video games on their cell phones. I am so thankful that my wife was able to stay at home and cook for me and the kids
At school kids buy all kinds of junk food and don't eat in the cafeteria like they should. Grant4ed some school cafeterias leave a lot to be desired but at least they are better than all the junk food.
America needs to get off its collective but and eat more healthy and exercise more. Wow, that is a scary thought "America's Collective Butt".
