Recycling craft ideas

Tape other end of tube closed and use paint, paper, crafts, and glue to decorate the rain stick. Let dry, and then have tons of fun making "rain stick" music.

-

For those with a little more experience, think about some of these easy ideas: -

CAKE PAN BURNER COVERS

- It's a great coincidence that many cake pans happen to be the perfect size to become decorated burner covers. Take the old pan and scrub it totally clean. If needed, use scouring pads or bristled brushes, some scratching is fine, but try not to gouge it. Make sure pan is utterly clean and dry before starting any painting.

- Use special spray paint made for metal to create a painted base on the pan that can have decorative painting added to. Or wipe entire pan with rubbing alcohol and let dry completely, then use acrylic craft paint for decorating. Try wilderness scenes, patterns, cartoons, or dolls for decoration. Or use stamps, cut outs, and tape, then paint, to create cute embellishments to the pan top.

- Once the decoration has dried fully, use a spray on, *non-flammable*, clear gloss to finish the piece and prevent chipping. Let dry, then just place on a cooled burner for an adorable addition to any kitchen.

MELTED CRAYON STAINED GLASS

- Use two pieces of thick, black construction paper or poster board. Line the two pieces up, they will be the front and back. Trace a shape into the center of the paper, making sure there is suitable black space all around the edges. Try tracing a leaf, picture frame, shell, or any other neat shape. Cut out shape completely with papers lined up, so they still match.

- Take a piece of wax paper and crumble pieces of broken crayons so they completely cover a slightly larger area than the shape from the paper. Place second piece of wax paper over crayons, and use a warm, not hot, iron and melt crayons evenly. Let dry.

- Cut out shape slightly larger than the missing area in the papers. Glue crayon, wax paper and all, between the two black pieces of paper. Then glue the front and back papers together and let dry. Hang in window and enjoy a mini stained glass piece of art.
