More often than not a superior performer, in sports, politics, mathematics, etc has an inherent advantage which is only apparent in retrospect. Everyone knows about John Kennedy's intellect, or Lance Armstrong's training techniques after the fact. But these attributes were not nearly as obvious at the time. However, in the case of Barrack Obama, the elevated aptitude for politics is plain to anyone who writes crooked. With our country at the breach, and with the consequences of the next president's failure too horrible to contemplate, perhaps it is time to appreciate Obama's ideal, almost unique qualifications to be president.
Lefties synthetic reasoning and visual perception makes them ideal military commanders (Ramses II, Alexander, Julius Caesar, Tiberius, Joan of Arc, Nathan Bedford Forrest, Norman Shwarzkopf, etc), journalists (Ed Murrow, Ted Koppel, Dave Barry, Forrest Sawyer, etc), lawyers, and comedians (too numerous to count). Left handers tend to be very concrete thinkers (who have difficulty with abstractions). Many on the extreme wings of either party would like to think of political leaderships as an idealistic exercise. But it is an intensely practical one, and one which carries very real consequences.
Since 1980 the U.S. has only had one right handed president, who happens to be in the running for the worst president ever. Given the fact that we've been attacked by terrorists, have had another city completely submerged, no longer have any real allies in the world, and are stuck in a war of choice with no end in site, should we really risk electing another right hander? I know there are some smart ones out there. But can we afford to gamble the future of our country on it?
It's not productive to be too self righteous on the subject. After all, Jack the Ripper, the Boston Strangler, and Osama Bin Ladin are/were all lefties too. But we are facing some real problems, and we need some real answers. Nothing personal righties. But you guys can do the math, and leave the rest to us.
