How drinking can become a habit

Sometimes there just seems to be no escape from the stress and expectations of our daily lives.

We live a high octane world.

We live in an era of cutting edge technology, abundance of just about everything, and a populace consumed with the desire to make sure they get their share.

Although this often leads to an escape through drinking, the escapism that alcohol provides from the stresses of everyday life has been around for hundreds of years.

Regardless if you are rich or poor, well-educated or have little education, escape into alcohol can become a temporary shroud that hides the stresses of a persons chosen path through life. That cocktail at lunch or beer with the boys after work begins to be a daily refuge from the realities of your existence.

It does not take long before you want to be in that alcoholic haze every time things build up inside. Every time life becomes a little challenging. Soon the reasons for having that drink seem to multiply. So does the amount of drinks you have, as your body builds up a certain immunity to the alcohol and more is required to reach the state of euphoric escapism you yearn for.

It doesn't take long before a person can begin to like drinking far too much.

In a few short months the artificial 'high' from alcohol induced stupors will become a daily refuge.

The things that were once important slip by the wayside. The "natural highs" of doing something well, of loving everyday life with family and friends, of each small success in life, are no longer enough.

Your escape from reality has now developed into the serious problem zone and without you even realizing it, will erode away the life you once loved and cherished.

The euphoria once provided by alcohol, will soon become the poison that blurs what is real and what is not and unless that demon is tamed, life can become an all-consuming living Hell that becomes harder and harder to elude.
