Recycling craft ideas

fun belt craft you can make from household items is the "bottle cap" belt. All you need for this is an old belt and some collected bottle caps of your choice! The easiest method is to hot glue the bottle caps to the belt in any fashion that suits you but you can also use hammer studs through the caps if you want a sturdier bottle cap belt. I found a great tutorial over at http://www.briomag.com/briomag azine/briobeyond/a0005408.html that has a nice photo!

With some scissors and a bit of sewing you can make a fun indie style belt out of an old seat belt! If you visit a junk yard you can score several perfectly good seat belts. Just cut them out of the car, bring them home and fit them to your waste. Cut off the excess seatbelt that you do not need from each of the pieces of seat belt. Sew the pieces together and you are set! These are very popular with the teens! http://www.instructables.com/i d/Seat-Belt-Belt/

HGTV also has several sets of instructions for recycling/ reusing old fabric and clothes to make items like pillow cases, aprons and purses (http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/ah_m oneysaving_recycle/article/0,1 801,HGTV_3131_1384006,00.html) .

For the holidays I made up several gift bag/ purses from old wool sweaters and I even made matching gloves for them. These purses are functional and can also hold goodies or gifts for a special recipient. All you need for this craft is some sweaters and a sewing machine or a plain needle and thread. I posted a pattern for the craft and some step by step guide that you can read over at: http://www.harvestofdailylife. com/recycled-sweater-purse-and -glove-instructions

There are an infinite number of recycled craft ideas on the web to inspire you and help you reuse old stuff. Hopefully this article has gotten you off to a good start, have fun crafting and remember it's better to reuse what you already have!
