Ahhh, to look young again. There are so many of us who want to look young. Scientists repeatedly search to find the fountain of youth but with no luck. The fountain of youth exists only in novels (Descent from Xanadu by Harold Robbins). Yet, we are still searching for the right cream, the right diet, the right drink that will make us look younger. Maybe not by twenty years but at least by ten. Celebrities retort to plastic surgery to look young. They will have multiple surgeries and eventually will start to look like Joan Rivers. The rest of us wish for good genes and a happy life.
Joking aside, there are a few things that one can do to stay and look young. First, maintain a healthy weight and a healthy diet. Excess weight will add years, not only to someone's face but also to someone's body. A healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables and plenty of water will help someone's face look younger and will also keep his/her body agile, right into his/her eighties.
Exercise. Regular exercise can take years away from someone's face and body. Not only it increases the metabolism but also helps maintain healthy bones. Just 30 minutes of exercise daily will help maintain a healthy weight and a healthy, radiant face.
Sleep. Eight to ten hours sleep every night helps restore the skin. Even if someone doesn't need ten hours sleep, a full eight-hour sleep each night, will help him/her look younger.
Avoid smoking. Smoking is not only hazardous to your health but it's also hazardous to your face. The constant smoke inhaling and exhaling doesn't help, but increase the lines around the mouth. Not only that, it is difficult for smokers to exercise regularly and even taste the real flavors of food.
Avoid stress. No matter how stressful our lives are, with regular exercise and healthy eating we can become stress free, thus increasing our longevity and our wrinkle free skin.
Avoid prolonged exposure in the sun. No matter where we live, we have to apply an SPF cream, constantly. If we live in a cold climate with plenty of snow, the sun reflection off the snow can still harm our skin. If we live in a warm climate with plenty of sun, we still have to wear some kind of sunscreen protection.
There are also plenty of creams in the market nowadays that promise a younger looking skin. On a segment of 20/20 a couple of years ago, they tested a few of the most expensive creams with some of over the counter creams. The team at 20/20 found out that the most expensive creams had the same ingredients as the over the counter creams. Thus, summarizing, that you don't have to spend exorbitant amount of money to buy the expensive creams that promise a younger looking skin. Any hand cream or over the counter cream will give you the same results.
All these tips will help someone look younger but one thing is of the utmost importance. When you are happy, you look younger. So keep in mind, that no matter how stressful and miserable one's life can be, always keep your chin up, and be happy. This technique will make you look younger at all times.
