How to deal with a pushy salesman

Getting rid of a pushy salesman can be quite difficult sometimes.

A salesman is usually so intense because they are making a commission or looking to be the best employee with the highest sales. This causes much competition in a company. Sadly, the consumers fall victim to such behavior derived from them.

There are many ways to calm them down or get rid of them.

*Before you walk into a company, have a plan on what you are looking for and set a financial limit for yourself.

*Simply tell them you are browsing and will ask for help when needed.

*When the first salesman approaches you, you must be adamant what you are looking for. Ask many questions and compare products along with prices. This keeps the salesman busy and does not give them too much time to interrupt you with impertinent questions.

*You can try asking questions or making comments not pertaining to the items to keep the employee distracted. This keeps things calm. Keep in mind, you are in charge of your end result. You are in control of your spending limit as well.

*Eventually, there will be someone who cannot take NO for an answer. They will begin to offer products pertaining to what you are looking for. They may even offer an item on sale, but you have no interest in. Remember, if the store does not have what you want, you should leave immediately and thank them for their time.

*Some can get downright rude with you for not making a sale. This is when you go to management and let them know about that employee. Sometimes, the manager may even give you a discount or credit for your discomfort. That will calm you, and the salesman will be getting reprimanded for their behavior.

*If the pushy salesman turns out to be the manager, explain how you feel. Try and give the manager an idea of how being pushy is a turn off. Usually, if you are able to rationally talk to the manager about this, that manager will learn how to be better. In turn, teaching his/her employees to become caring and understanding salesmen.

Moreover, you are improving a company by letting management know of potential bigger problems in the future. This will help the company maintain a friendly environment for its consumers. You will be more content and able to come back again as well.
