Praying for revival

There seems to be a lot of discussion on the subject of revival, "praying for revival", "are you ready for revival", but the first thing to consider should be, "what is a revival"? The answers could range from "it is the time to get excited and dance and run the isles", or it could be, "it is the time to bow down and acknowledge our sinfulness and ask forgiveness and seek a renewing of our fellowship with our Lord and Savior". The answer to this will help determine what you will get out of a revival, you are there to gratify yourself or to lift up and magnify the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

When the person has set their mind on a revival and what it means to them, then they can take the time to check their heart and soul to see if what they feel is what the bible says should be their view toward a revival. Now let us see what the Word of God says about "revive".

The scripture to look at is Isa. 57:15, "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones". As you can see from this verse, that God is looking for the humble and contrite to revive. Now that we have the foundation for the people to come before God let us find what "revive" means.

When you search for the meaning you find that revive means, "to live, have life, remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously, live for ever, be quickened, be alive, be restored to life or health" Strong's Hebrew lexicon. Now I ask, "Is that what you are looking for from a revival"? I strongly believe that when the people who are called by His name come together and start praying with the right motives and correct spirit then we will see a revival in these last days like never before, a revival that could shine larger than Azuza itself.
