Human Resources play a major roll in all companies. The employees in this department are there to guide you in answering any and all questions pertaining to work. If you have specific questions, think about who you need to ask to receive the correct answers.
When you have spoken with your manager or boss, they may refer you to Human Resources. You must put all feelings aside when it comes to speaking with them. Remember it is professional, not personal. If you feel like your questions are not answered, then you have more options to consider.
Payroll
Schedule an appointment with a payroll representative or payroll Manager to discuss your options concerning your income. You may ask questions pertaining to taxes taken out of your check and tax forms such as W-2 or W-4 for example. Also,ask details on additional withdrawals from your paycheck. You can ask about annual or potential raises in pay as well.
Health Coverage
When Human Resources cannot answer your questions on coverage, you can consult the paper work you have received from the providing company. If you do not have it, Human Resources can provide you with materials which include a phone number to the company.
Open-door Policy or Union
Open-Door policy requires you to confront the Human Resources with your problem. If it is with them directly, you have a right to request a third-party representative . The third-party represents being a witness and a voice of reason. They may also need to make adjustments for the two having the problem together. They must be from upper Management in order to have your questions and issues resolved in a professional manner.
Unions provide a representative that you must consult with first. They will provide you with the proper procedures required with Human Resources.
Fellow Associates
You may be able to ask some of your questions to co-workers or management. It is ideal to try consulting with an employee who has been with the company for long period of time.
Better Business Bureau
You can check on-line or by calling. This great government agency can provide you with solid information about your company.
You can also check the State guidelines pertaining to Hiring standards. Make sure your company is following these procedures pertaining to you and all employees.
Remember that it is always important for you to be well informed. Having true knowledge of your needs and requirements enables you to continue your job comforted. This gives you a better positive attitude you can appreciate working.
