PSYCHIC POWER
-

Though belated, a happy 2008 to all the helium family members.
On this occasion I would like to invoke the thoughts of wise men of
a bygone era: "Universal Brotherhood and Happiness for One and All".

Why write about psychic power one can wonder. Well there was a

trigger which started this blog. I am a fully confirmed gentleman
of leisure. On the new year morning I was lolling in the bed.
Then I saw a flash clad in sportswear pass by. This was my son going
for his early morning stint of tennis. In a jiffy he came back.
I asked him as to what the matter was. He said his car had a flat
tire. I asked him why he had not fixed it. He said the handle for
the jack was missing and he would go down and borrow a jack.

After a while he was still standing by the car with a friend
of his. I asked him whether everything was sorted out. He said not yet
and that he was going to fetch the mechanic as he could not borrow a jack.

This made me think about Uri Geller. Most of you must have heard of
him. For others who are not familiar he is a person who demonstrated
psychic powers. Well, what exactly are these powers. For example
you put him in one room and keep a straight steel rod in the other
he would by his thought force will bend the steel rod. This started the
thought train.

If only my son had the psychic power he could have changed the tire
in a jiffy even without the jack. Actually he could have even avoided
puncture by wishing away the nails from the path of the car. Would he
need a car at all. Can he not travel astrally with a higher level of
power.

If only I acquire psychic power, then I can travel astrally
not needing a passport, visa nor a ticket. No more congested buses.
This blog would straight away go into print rather than draft, correct
and final typing cycle. Astral travel would do away with pollution,
traffic hold ups and such problems.

Right away I see a downside to the whole thing. Suppose I am the
only one endowed with psychic power. This would cause heart burn for
others and I may get burnt at the stakes. If all are equally endowed
with this power let us see what happens, especially when competing
for scarce resources. Say you are in New York and are looking for a
taxi at the peak hour of traffic. Say you hail a taxi in the mind
and another person at the same time directs his thought to the same
cab. Then the cab would come to a screeching halt. This can easily
lead to a traffic jam. Ouch! I for got altogether about astral
travel possibility which would obviate the need for a cab. I am
genuinely sorry about it and please bear with me.

There are immense possibilities and I can go on and on. Though
not psychic I can feel the readers' restlessness wishing that I stop
this drivel right year. I accede to their wish. It is bye for now
but not before once again wishing a 'happy 2008'
