Poetry: Betrayal

I remember her best,
In her white summer dress,
Her blonde hair pulled
Away from her face,
Her blue eyes,
Envied me, they looked
So pretty with her sun kissed
Skin.

We were 12 then.

Inseparable a summer,
School came, and went.

And we grew into a simple memory.

4 years later,
Fate would find us standing
Face to face
As though, the abandonment
have never occurred.

How happy she was to see me again.
I didn't receive her in that same way..
I wish I could take back that day,

because
I didn't know we shared similar pains.
I should have forgiven her, we were just kids.
I wish I hadn't acted like I was better then her.
Because I didn't know, she was in such danger.

But in the hour that he took her life.
I could feel what I couldn't foresee,
I swear I woke to the sound of a gun,
That echoed down the street,

But, I thought it couldn't be..
I let her down, more then she ever let me.
