When talking about "health food", one must assume that the food in question already has nutritional value. So, when choosing between two or more varieties of the same health food - whether granola, tofu, or any other healthy staple - taste must be paramount in any final decision.
With our society supersizing itself into wider and wider pants' sizes, a new wave of sentiment has arisen for our citizenry to eat healthier. The food pyramid has been retooled. But the real problem is that, in a society where a fine-food renaissance has exploded alongside the McDonald's and the Whataburgers of the world, too many Americans have never been properly taught a manner in which it is possible to eat food that is both delicious and healthful.
Health foods come in all shapes and sizes. Walk through the produce aisle at any local supermarket. All those fruits and vegetables are all jam-packed with nutritional value. But, prepared different ways, that head of broccoli can either be a health food or the flavor component for something else altogether. Nutrition must always play a role in health-food decisions; but the ultimate test comes in whether the consumer is actually going to CONSUME the product...
Taste is the most important factor when it comes to choosing health foods. A person is only bound to eat healthily if he or she finds healthful foods which they are willing to consume - and that they ENJOY consuming. Only when the taste is palatable will health-food options be joyfully eaten...
