Art vs life

For me life and art are the same in one. Life inspires my art and art inspires my life. Lets take two seasons out of the year for example. I love summer but the fall and winter inspire me to paint and be creative. Living in the great northwest the fall is so beautiful. It starts to get cold outside and my town starts to smell like a big campground with everyone trying to stay warm using their wood-stoves. With winter around the corner everyone is hunkering down for the cold, rainy and sometimes snowy seasons. Some may think it is dreary and depressing this time of year but I think it is very cozy!

My beautiful wife loves to light candles that make our entire home smell so, so good. The intoxicating smells take you on a sniffing journey from brandied apricot to ginger pumpkin pie, strawberry rhubarb, hot, apple, cider and many other mouth watering flavors. This inspires me to make some dark, rich, strong, black, coffee. Add a little half and half and whoa perfection! I then like to put some Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" on for a little mood and ambiance and begin my attempt to make a blank canvas come to life.

So you see. All parts of my life is intertwined with music, food and art. They inspire me to be creative and expressive. The experience of creating something from nothing is a chance to be with God in my opinion. Whether it is cooking, art, music or anything creative even making a good cup of coffee. Life is creativity. So when you absorb yourself in life you cannot help but to be creative. Food, Sex, Music and Art is life. For some sex is a bad word but it is a short word to describe the art of making love. Can you imagine life without any of these elements in it? Without these there is no life.
