Word of mouth has always been the time tested, cheap yet effective means of marketing and advertising. You must first tell your friends, neighbors and associates about your home business. If your home business has anything to do with fashion clothes, hats, beads or trinkets, then you should be your own model. Model your stocks or creations by wearing samples of what you have for sale. Interested persons who are attracted by what you are wearing will approach you for supplies. In addition, you can make simple fliers and posters and have them displayed at strategic places such as banks, churches, hotels, etc. And remember to carry some extra copies of the fliers and posters and use every opportunity to present them to new acquaintances.
The Internet also provides great techniques for marketing and advertising. There are websites where you can post adverts for free. There are also websites where you pay only a token fee to have your products displayed or advertised on the front page of the website. Forums are also good places for product marketing and advertising. All you have to do is sign up with as many forums as you are interested in and introduce yourself and your home business.
Complimentary cards are also a low cost method of marketing your home business. Include some reasonable details of the nature of your business on the complimentary card; but be careful not to over crowd the card with printed words. Be generous in giving out the cards to acquaintances and friends.
Good sign posts in strategic places; with information on your home business is also a low cost technique of marketing. You can add creativity to the sign posts by having pictures depicting the nature of your home business printed on the sign posts.
