Never in a million years. There is absolutely no way I could ever give a gift
to my best girlfriend Riley, without putting any love or concern in the
thought process. There are a phenomenal amount of personality types in
this world. With that being a given, it is no small feat to be blessed with
having someone in this world who actually means the world to you. A

person who understands your sense of humor and accepts the way you do
things, even though they don't do them the same way. That's love and it is
very much appreciated by this woman. To randomly pick out an object of
affection or gratitude is not an option. As I have continued to live and learn
upon this planet, I have communicated and placed the earned symbolisms
of my girlfriend's preferences in their appropriate niches in life. The ability
to not be selfish surpasses its normal hereditary function when a
commitment has been made to pursue a relationship built on trust and
respect. That being said, I love to give gifts to my friends and especially
to my best girlfriend. It can't be relegated to a trivial distinction or a
mundane observation. It is the exact time to let my girlfriend know that
I love her and I think about her even when the world is spinning around
frantically on its axis.

So, how do you know what not to get for your girlfriend? You go for the
things that she loves or has a passion for. If the gift is personal, you know
the colors she loves to wear and the colors she detests to have anywhere
near her, let alone, on her. The last thing you want to think about is what
you like to see on yourself. Your complexion may not be the same as hers
and even if it was, you already know what colors she avoids. If you think
that she would look like a femme fatale in the color of your choice, why
risk making her feel uncomfortable in placing that color in her wardrobe?
Save those type of exercises for another time and place. Don't abuse the
privilege of being able to give a gift with a chance to experiment with your
girlfriend's choices in her lifestyle. If you want to make a purchase for
something she can exhibit in her home, the color rule still applies. Try to
keep your imagination in line with her decorum. Adding to and not
subtracting from are the key elements in play here. Has she established a
favorite subject of interest in her home? Does she like Betty Boop or
Mickey Mouse? Is she into butterflies or refrigerator magnets? Chances are
that she is into something and you choosing something completely
