On whether to buy new or used, Once upon a time I would have said used.. But, now, living in an old crumbling house, I have learned a few things.. Let me start by saying that my dining room is way too small. And, having an outdated kitchen is the worst sort of torture there ever was. The cabinets are way too small, I keep having to cram the pots and pans in them, our drawers are coming off their hinges, our refrigerator light went ca put, the wiring had just quit one day with no rhyme or reason.

And, don't get me started on the old style vinyl flooring that looks like it came out of the eighties, and the floor board underneath is wilted and needs to be replaced. Why, you would say? Our dishwasher broke one day, and water burst all over the floor, let's just say that we never had any money to fix it, so, we stopped using it, and went to washing dishes the old fashioned way.
The kitchen lighting was so old and outdated, and now, is hanging from the ceiling, hanging just by threads of wiring. And, also, prepare yourself, The lighting fixture, we learned hangs underneath the bath tub upstairs and the toilet. So, when our toilet pipe broke upstairs, lo and behold we had another flood. And, it damaged the fixture beyond repair.

Okay, now, let me tell you, that our downstairs sink, it stays constantly clogged because there is something wrong with the plumbing. We tried getting a new sink, changed the piping underneath, unclogged it with liquid plumber, and nothing works! It just goes back the way it was. The upstairs bath tub faucet leaks, constantly, and we have changed the shower head, with no difference!
And, when it comes to our walls, the plaster is falling down on to the floor. In the basement, we found out recently, that we have mold! And, it so happens that the basement is unfinished, which means its looks like an old cave, with old brick walls that are probably cement, the floors as are cement, and has huge cracks in it, and we had to replace the water pump three times before we could get it work properly, and that is only because we had to purchase a new water hose, so it would drain properly.
All of our windows were old, I mean the original windows that came with the house upon its original building, and we had all the windows replaced down in the living room, and two upstairs. They said it would help provide better insulation. Well, guess what folks.. It did nothing whatsoever! Now, our house is as cold as ever in the winter, hot in the summer, and the windows cost us an arm and a leg, and we still have no money to pay them, even when my hubby received a better job, and makes eighteen dollars an hour! So, if anyone reads this, and decides to buy used, I'd say that you were crazy!
