"Empty Pockets"-Some day I'm gonna break free from these empty pockets, that's causing me poverty and grief. I know what it's like to wear thrift-store-drawls and pre-worn socks and shoes. I've got the brains to bring me what I want.For now, I've gotta, dance in the cold- rain with these empty pockets. People see me, laugh and talk. I'm wishing, wanting, and waiting for the things I'm gonna get as soon as I break- free, from these empty pockets. In my bible there's a wish, want, and need list. In that old bible there's also an empty envelope.
It is addressed to-heaven. On that empty envelope is written: Dear God,because, I believe in thee, I know, you gonna set me free! I said set me free! Set me free, from these empty pockets. Oh Yeah! I know you gonna help! Help Me! Dear God, I know, you hear my cry! You hear my prayers! I know you up there! As a child, you showed me, in my dreams fancy rings, nice clothes, expensive cars and a house, made-for a star! I know that in this life, I will be traveling far, meeting with kings and-eating with queens." When I'm set free from these empty pockets that's troubling me! Dear God, you so-good,so-good to me. I shall never forget thee, when you set me free: I'm gonna take that empty envelope and fill it with hundred dollar bills for the next soul I see, who reminds me of me, when I wore Thrift-store-drawls. Oh! God, how good it would be for me to no longer have to live in poverty and grief. I'm tired of dancing in the cold rain. I'm gonna dance in the moon-light as soon as I'm set free from these empty pockets. Thanks, for reading my article.
