Have you ever read the back of your shampoo or conditioner bottle? What are all those ingredients? How do you know the product is caring for your hair like it claims to do? The very popular T-Gel formula for example, a great hair product that is often recommended for people who suffer skin conditions and dandruff, was rumored to have cancer causing agents contained within in the form of coal tar.
Some toxic chemicals contained within shampoo and conditioner, not only cause potential damage to your hair but can also enter the body and blood system through your scalp.
Did you know that the calcium deposits you find in your shower and bath are also caused by your store bought soap and hair products? If it does that to your shower, imagine what it could be doing to your hair.
It is very easy to make your own hair products, especially shampoo and conditioner. Not only is it easy, you know the ingredients are safe and best of all, no messy deposits in your shower so it'll save you plenty of cleaning time in the future.
Following are a number of recipes to make your own shampoo and conditioner that will not only leave your hair clean and fresh, but will provide a stimulating scalp massage at the same time.
RECIPES FROM THE CUPBOARD
1 empty shampoo bottle (or plastic jar)
3 cups of soap flakes (found at supermarket in washing detergent area)
Distilled Water (tap water has chemicals and may turn mixture rancid and slimy)
EGG SHAMPOO RECIPES
Using eggs from your pantry will leave your hair clean and fresh and at the same time very soft.
For dry hair, whisk one egg yolk and slowly add 150 ml warm water when whisking. Massage through your hair and leave for several minutes, then rinse and pat dry.
For oily hair, whisk one egg white while slowing adding 150 ml warm water to it. Massage through your hair and leave for several minutes, then rinse and pat dry.
RECIPES USING ESSENTIAL OILS
The extracting methods used in the process of removing essential oils from plants and flowers allows the oils to be more concentrated. Using real herbs from your garden may not contain as many essential ingredients needed, but can also be used in shampoo and conditioner recipes.
Put your soap flakes into your shampoo bottle.
Pour water in, you can add little or less depending on consistency.
Add 4 drops of Lavender and 4 drops of Rosemary.
Put lid on and shake until mixture or soap flakes have dissolved.
Oily Hair~ 3 drops Lemon, 3 drops Geranium, 3 drops Lavender
Dry Hair~ 3 drops Sandalwood, 3 drops Ylang
