The best and fastest ways to increase your vertical jump

We all want to soar with the eagles, but all some people can manage is to flop like a fish out of water. So why does it seem so hard for those not blessed with natural explosive ability, and what can they do to catch up to those fortunate ones?

If you want to leap upwards into the sky you should start a training regime that will build not only strength but explosive power in the areas required to propel you into the stratosphere. This program will have to be tailored to your specific level of ability, but there are certain things that you should stay away from. If all you are doing is lifting huge weights then you will only develop strength, not power, and you will also be putting on extra weight that will hinder your ability to explode away from the ground. Strength building should be a part of your program but stay away from huge weights. Instead, focus on lower weights while doing the exercise more explosively. This will give a balance between strength and power. The Olympic lifts, when done properly, will give dramatic results that will have you jumping higher in no time.

Hitting the weights is not the only thing you can do to increase your vertical jumping ability. Plyometric exercises, such as wall taps or box jumps, will build explosive power in larger muscle groups and also strengthen some of the smaller stabilizer muscles required to stay in the proper position when generating power to jump. Another thing that will help is general fitness and core strength. Being in good shape will amplify the results you will see from any weight lifting program.

So to recap, a good weight lifting program and getting into better shape will both contribute to your ability to explode away from the ground. Hopefully this guide has been beneficial to you journey towards soaring with the eagles.
