No Hypnosis cannot relieve depression

Though many Hypnotic therapist believe they are the "cure all" for many afflictions society suffers, they are not. In a few cases they are the root of the problem. Hypnotic therapist are like gypsies were to medicine at one point in time. They think their "crystal ball" will give the answers needed. Well crystal balls do not work and neither does hypnosis.

Hypnosis is being used to "help" in the aid of quitting smoking, alien visits and abductions, and now they are claiming a cure for depression; What next? will hypnosis cure the common cold? There maybe something to the whole hypnosis theory as far as making or coaching individuals into facing their demons but, to call the process a "hypnotic trance" is foolishness.Receiving techniques to relax a body is not hypnosis. This is relaxation; relaxation alone is a wonderful tool in aiding relief for depression but, relaxation does not cure depression. Talking to a psychiatrist or psychologist and proper medication can aid in the healing process for depression sufferers but there is no "cure all" method.

Some individuals can seem like they have been hypnotized because they are prone to suggestions. Some individuals like to please and will perform to get attention. This is how cults are designed; preying on individuals who no longer want to be in charge of there own lives or thoughts. This behavior is also what a therapist needs to perform "hypnosis" successfully.

If the process of hypnotizing was so easy to learn and it actually worked the world would be a very dangerous place. Think of all the things a person under hypnosis could do for another person; rob banks, kill people, kidnap, anything suggested by the hypnotist. Our judicial system would have to set new precedents for crimes of hypnotic suggestions. No, I strongly believe hypnosis will not cure depression.

If hypnosis could cure depression, then maybe voodoo dolls could cure physical afflictions.
That would be truly amazing to hypnotize someone and make a voodoo doll of that person; we could witness a puppet show without any strings. Watching this act would help in curing depression because the laughter would be a great start.
