Title: Me and Em.

Characters:-

Omec

"Why am I here?" Asked Neila. Programming her breathing apparatus.

"Shall I answer that, or would you like to figure that out for yourself?" Said Em, reconfiguring the organic ship to ship communication tentacle antenna.

"But Em, you are so good at communicating with so many other life forms, why can't you tell me the answer to my question?" Neila said, frustrated.

"Would you really like ME, to tell you?" Said Em.

"Well, yes!" Said Neila.

"Hello, hello." A strange alien voice bellowed throughout the vessel. Of course, the real voice sounded like this: ##########*#@@#* But that was Em's job! Em translated alien communications and converted them into audible sentences with syllables, with understandable dialogue.

"Hello." Neila thought. Neila could understand clearly, as she was connected to Em, through a less technical form of communication.

"Hello, this is Omec. I am wondering if you could help us. We are traveling to Vintus and our belief system has broken down. We are in need of restoration, quickly!"

Neila frowned, then smiled. Em's liquid emotional lights bubbled. "What do you need to know?" Asked Em.

There was a short pause, then Omec asked, "Why are we here?"

Neila's ears perked up. Neila waited for an answer from Em, holding her breath.

"Why do you think you are here?" Replied Em.

Neila sighed and slid back into her seat like a rag doll from the 20th century.

"I don't know." Replied Omec. "We were all on a mission from Cenoga and a meteor storm hit us really badly. No one was hurt, but now we are all questioning our purpose in this universe and even beyond that. So why are we here?"

"Yes Em!" Snapped Neila smartly. "Why are we here!?"

Em was silent for a moment, then Em replied, "I cannot answer that question. You have to answer it yourselves."

Neila rolled her eyes. "But Em, you know everything. How many grains of sand are on the planet Earth?" Neila quipped.

"Ninety three trillion, eight hundred and forty two billion, six hundred and fifty seven million, seven hundred thousand, four hundred and twenty six." Em replied.

"There you go. So why are we here?" Pleaded Neila.

Em thought for a moment. "You are here, because you are."

Omec piped in. "So what you are saying is, we are here, because we are, here?"

"Indeed." Said Em. "That is correct. To be anywhere else, would mean that you are not here, so, you are here and that is why you are here, because you are."

"Hmn..." Thought Omec aloud. "But, that doesn't explain exactly why?"

"The
